33 current and past nominees from the Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech list have been featured in the ‘301 Female Trailblazers of Tech’ list published by Business Cloud magazine. The Q4 2018 edition also features an in-depth interview with Lopa Patel, Founder & CEO of Diversity UK who publish the Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech list, on why diversity is good for tech. She explained that “the diversity gap begins with how startups are founded” and went on to explain that “changes are already happening because people are realising that diversity brings a multitude of insights so you end up with a stronger company”.

Personally, I am honoured to be listed alongside my own heroines British astrophysicist Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, who donated her $3 million breakthrough prize to underrepresented students; Baroness Joanna Shields OBE, former UK Minister for Internet safety and security and Baroness Martha lane-Fox CBE, previously co-Founder of Lastminute.com”, said Lopa, “and I am equally delighted that so many of the women whose achievements we’ve highlighted in the Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech list over the past 4 years have been showcased in this issue”.

Women make up only 17% of the Tech workforce

“One statistic that is trotted out is that only 17 percent of people working in the tech sector are women. We need to increase that number and we hope that by publishing a list of 301 female entrepreneurs and pioneers of tech, they’ll become role models to the next generation” wrote Chris Maguire, Editor of Business Cloud in his introduction.
