TechMaids hosted an IWD Open House on Saturday 28th March 2015 at the RAF Museum in London to empower individuals interested in entrepreneurship and wellbeing. Guest speakers at the International Women’s Day event included young entrepreneur Clare Eluka, CEO of Premae Skincare; Alexandra Jones, a wellbeing coach, author and founder of The Healthy Girl website; Lopa Patel MBE, Digital Media Entrepreneur and Founder of South Asian Lifestyle website Redhotcurry.com, Lou Tassell a Reflexologist & Nutritionist and Marketing Consultant Julia Ager. Organised by Rahmat Balogun, a technology consultant and Founder of TechMaids, the open house also saw live comedy by Britain’s Got Talent contestant Cordell Stephens and poetry by Shante Stephens.

About the speakers

Rahmat Balogun, Founder of TechMaids

Rahmat Balogun has worked in the IT Industry for 15years; she graduated with a BSc Joint Degree in Business Computing and has since gained experience working for various organisations across the IT industry in the UK. In June 2011, she founded TechMaids™ a workforce development service for women seeking employment or business opportunities in computer technology. Rahmat is an IT trainer and STEM Ambassador.

Clare Eluka, CEO of Premae Skincare

Multi-award winning ethical beauty entrepreneur, educator and allergy practitioner, Clare Eluka is a pioneering force in the contemporary health and wellbeing industry. After working 10 years in the beauty sector for global brands and founding a small vegan brand at the age of 24, Clare launched the world’s first Allergy UK certified beauty brand, Premae Skincare. In 2012, Clare was featured in Management Today’s ‘35 Women Under 35’ and has won numerous industry awards and accolades.

Alexandra Jones, Founder of The Healthy Girl

Alexandra Jones, Founder of the Healthy Girl website, is a highly experienced wellness coach, NLP practitioner and expert in achieving lasting weight loss. Alex is a nutritional consultant and has also co-owned her own boutique personal training studio, utilising cutting-edge systems to help people lose weight, get into shape, improve their health and increase their energy levels. She is the author of eBook ‘How to Get Slim & Stay Slim’ and has recently completed her second book’ Slim, Sexy & Sensational – Discover the New & Easy Way to Lasting Weight Loss’ which will be published in 2015.

Lou Tassell, Reflexologist & Nutritionist

Lou Tassell is a Reflexologist & Nutritionist, a member of the Association of Reflexologists, with a full insured private practice called Optimal Vitality. A graduate with a degree in French and International Business, she also teaches French to primary school age children. Since her own health challenges, Lou now also provides insight into nutrition and the limitations of our modern diet and advices on how to improve wellbeing through dietary changes.

Lopa Patel MBE, Digital Media Entrepreneur – Founder of Redhotcurry.com

Lopa Patel is a digital entrepreneur who founded the South Asian Lifestyle website Redhotcurry.com, ecommerce site TheRedhotshop.com and the annual Asian Power Couples Hot 100 list. Lopa is also the Founder & CEO of equality and inclusion think tank Diversity UK and a Technology Ambassador for STEMNET, helping to encourage girls to take up science careers. Her outstanding record of achievement has been recognised with numerous accolades including an MBE for services to the creative industries in 2009. Lopa she was listed in the ‘50 Most Incredible Women in STEM’ 2014.

Julia Ager, Marketing Consultant

Julia Ager is a Marketing Consultant currently completing a Marketing Management BA degree. She has experience working on major projects for the Environment Agency and is also working at Market Hunt, a sales and marketing consultancy that provides localised global solutions, from strategy to implementation, to clients across industries.

Cordell Stephens

Cordell Stephens is an actress, known for playing the character of Rachel in the thriller ‘Dead and Awake’ (2014). She has been acting since 2008 on stage and in videos and has played in roles alongside Kate Winslett and for Don Warrington. She also appeared in Britain’s Got Talent with a comedy sketch.

Shante Stephens

Shanté Stephens is Editor-In-Chief of ‘Shanté Says Style’!’, a fashion and beauty blog that she started in February 2013. A law graduate, she now writes about fashion and personal style, travel, law and humanitarian work.
