The UK branch of the Jain International Trade Organisation hosted a ‘Start, Grow & Invest’ Business Symposium on Sunday 5th March 2017. Held at the Oshwal Centre in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, the day long symposium was attended by over 400 members and guests. Three panels, moderated by Mehool Sanghrajka, debated the issues for start-ups, on founding and funding a new business (Start); the complexities that arise from growing and exiting a business (Grow) and the need to invest in the future generation of business entrepreneurs (Invest).

Panelists for the ‘Start’ session, which focussed on starting a business, included Mitul Thobhani, Founder & CEO of BayTree Labs; Kunal Thakker, CEO of Toothdoctor; Lopa Patel MBE, Digital Entrepreneur and Darshan Sanghrajka, Founder & CEO of social enterprise Superbeing Labs. The ‘Grow’ session which considered issues about growing a business, building a brand and exiting a business, heard from Divyesh Kamdar, CEO of Comline Auto Parts; Rex Shah, Director of Jelf Libra Insurance; Nina Amin, Partner at KMPG and Robert Moore of Barclays Bank. The ‘Invest’ session which looked angel investment, property development and trading in stocks and shares heard from Dixit Joshi, Managing Director at Deutsche Bank; Mahesh Gosrani, Managing Director at Liberty Land and Ashok Shah, Investment Director at London & Capital.

The symposium ended with a members-only session with Kunal Shah, Partner at Goldman Sachs; Dixit Joshi, Managing Director at Deutsche Bank and Bharat Mehta, CEO of Excellent Supplies Ltd debating what it takes to reach the top of your profession. The day ended with dinner and networking.
