Newham College London hosted a ‘Samsung Innovative Mobile Digital App Ideas Event’ on Friday 22nd November 2013 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2013. Seven ideas were pitched to a panel of judges in a BBC Dragon’s Den style format with winners receiving the latest Samsung tablets as prizes. Judges included investor and entrepreneur Charles Sekwalor; digital entrepreneur Lopa Patel MBE; Jessie Park Soohyun, CSR & Partnerships Manager at Samsung Electronics UK; mobile executive Michael Ohajuru; Philip Badman, Deputy Principal – Planning and Group Operations at Newham College FE and, Marketing Manager at Newham College. The pitches were given by students who had recently started studying at the new Samsung Digital Academy at the East Ham Campus and included ideas for Android apps for lifestyle management, diabetes monitoring, car maintenance, a 3D retail concept to navigating a building and geo-location services for the high street.
