On Tuesday 28th July Success Talks hosted its Digital Media event in partnership with PwC, London. Success Talks is an organisation that aims to change the mindset of young people across the world by profiling some of the most successful individuals globally using an app and its YouTube channel online. The Digital Media event offered an insight into PwC’s digital strategy, as well as their thoughts on virtual reality; agency Cult LDN showcased their work and discussed how digital campaigns are created; there was a digital panel Q&A with people currently working in the digital media industry and an inspirational talk by digital media entrepreneur Lopa Patel who spoke about her journey so far and her tips for success in the technology sector.

The focus of Success Talks is to work in three areas to promote initiatives and ideas to raise aspirations among young people with a particular focus on underrepresented individuals of black, Asian and minority ethnicity:
– Work in partnership with schools and other organisations to provide skills and experience days in areas such as coding, entrepreneurship and media to encourage young people of the wide range of options available to them.
– Create bespoke events which focus on issues prevalent in today’s society as well as providing innovative and exciting experiences for attendees.
– Develop initiatives and strategies for companies who are working on projects which involve people from under-represented background

About Lopa Patel MBE
Lopa Patel is a digital entrepreneur with a lifelong love of science and technology, innovation and bridging the skills gap in business. In April 2015 she was presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion, becoming the first Asian woman to receive the award. She publishes four media titles online and is the current CEO of Diversity UK – a think tank she founded which focuses on improving diversity and inclusion in Britain. She is a Technology Ambassador for STEMNET, helping to encourage girls to take up science careers, a sector in which just 13 per cent of the workforce are women. She is also the first Asian woman to be elected as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is also a Fellow of the RSA, the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.
