James Baker, Business Director at the National Graphene Institute (NGI), welcomed Dr S K Singh of the the High Commission of India, to the NGI in on 29th September 2015. The visit, organised in conjunction with Diversity UK Trustees Dilip Joshi MBE and Lopa Patel MBE, was also attended by Paul Kimber of Selex ES. The guests were able to tour the newly opened National Graphene Institute which is a 7,825 sqm, £61m state-of-the-art research centre for graphene and related 2D materials based at The University of Manchester. The visitors were able to discuss issues about the challenges of producing high quality graphene; its properties such as its lightweight, chemical inertness, large surface area and conductivity and the broad range of industrial applications for the new advanced material. Graphene applications range from membranes and biomedical applications to composites and coatings, energy, sensors and electronics.
