Chinese women in Britain were celebrated by the UK Chinese Women Connect charity at its inaugural UKCWC Awards hosted at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge on Saturday 28 January 2023. The UKCWC network, helps Chinese women who are living in the UK to connect with the community and merge into the wider society and aims to reduce isolation, loneliness, as well as to achieve racial harmony.

We value all the people who have made a tremendous impact to the community and society. By recognising the achievements of women of Chinese ethnicity, we promote the role models for our community and inspire the young generation to reach their full potential” said UKCWC Chairwoman, Qun Yang.

Among those highly commended was opera singer Chen Wang for the ‘Chinese Woman of the Year: Art and Media award’, who performed Brindisi from the opera La Traviata for guests including: Mr Chris Parkhouse DL, HM Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridge; Cllr Mark Ashton, The Mayor of Cambridge; Daniel Zeichner MP, Member of Parliament for Cambridge; Mrs Jennifer Compton, High Sheriff of Cambridgeshre; Jackson NG, Councillor for Beaconsfield Buckinghamshire Council; members of the judging panel, UKCWC committee members, sponsors ARM Limited, Biorbyt Limited, Deliveroo Plc, the Hill group, Mogic Limited, Quantric Training Limited and distinguished guests.
