Global Teacher Prize 2016 winner Hanan Al-Hroub opened trading on the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday 29th November 2016. Alongside Education Minister Nick Gibb MP; Nikhil Rathi, CEO, London Stock Exchange plc & Director of International Development, London Stock Exchange Group; Dino Varkey, Managing Director of GEMS Education; Vikas Pota, CEO of the Varkey Foundation; members of the Global Teacher Prize Academy and children from the GEMS school in Chelsea, Hanan pressed the button to the countdown for the day’s trading. She spoke of her delight that the London Exchange had chosen to “shine a spotlight on a teacher and that she was now being elevated to the same status as those in business over the years. The world needs great teachers to open great minds or we will never be able to tackle the huge challenges facing the world.I strongly believe that education is the investment that pays the best dividends of all.”
